Kinesiology

Kinesiology – the name goes back to the Greek word for movement. In medicine, “kinesiology” stands for kinematics and the study of muscles. “Applied Kinesiology” (AK) is a relatively young methodology, which takes advantage of the innate feedback loop of the human body. This feedback system is very simple and precise.

The American chiropractor Dr. George Goodheart observed in the 1960s that physical and psychological processes in humans are also reflected in the functional state of the muscles. Subsequently, he developed a simple test procedure that captures the muscle function without the aid of any equipment: the muscle test.

The person being tested is asked to hold the body part used for testing (usually arm or leg) against the pressure of the person testing. The test results (“locked” or “unlocked”) allow conclusions to possible energy blockades or influences which the person being tested is exposed to.

The AK takes advantage of the energy model of the Chinese acupuncture. This is based on the relationship between the energy pathways in the body (meridians and specific organs.

Through the feedback system of muscle testing, AK is able to ask the body directly in a simple way. Questions might be: “Should a specific acupuncture or reflex point be balanced? Is a specific herb, flower essence, homeopathic remedy helpful for the patient? Is a particular food, a (pictured) social situation unfavorable or stressful?” This will ensure that only the appropriate actions that are being demanded from the body are taken. (Alfred Schatz, DGAK)

The focus of our work in kinesiology: Edu-K (educational kinesiology), Touch for Health (we also train in these two areas), and 3-in-One. But also new techniques, such as CQM (Chinese Quantum Method) are included in our daily work.

Although AK has its origin in chiropractic, its application is by no means limited to health care. It rather has the character of a new form of communication than that of a cure. The range of potential applications is nearly unlimited.

Here are some typical case examples:

A first-grader came into our office with reading difficulties. He had trouble to keep up in school. Also the intensive support of the mother hardly showed effect. After five kinesiological balances he already made good progress. His reading rate improved and there was positive feedback from the teacher. In the course, he learned simple exercises that he could execute daily by himself, which helps him in his day-to-day routine.

An eleven-year-old schoolgirl is being bullied by her classmates every day. By finding and balancing some emotional blockades and psychological problems, as well as by strengthening the self-confidence, she is able to stand up in school life much better. Meanwhile, she felt more comfortable at school and even made new friends.

A 37-year-old woman was afraid of a (alternative practitioner) examination. The thought of the exam paralyzed her and took all her energy that she needed to concentrate on preparing for the exam. During the Kinesiology session, long past school topics were dealt with and balanced. After that she was finally able to prepare properly and passed the test with flying colors.
